Photo Diary: Yogyakarta 2018

Lush, cool tea plantations juxtapose with fiery sauna-like metal workshops. An ancient temple dating back to the 9th century swarms with tourists wielding 21st century cameras and smartphones. Wonderful Indonesia is truly a study of contrasts, and being just 2 hours away by plane, makes Yogyakarta one of our favourite Asian photo tour destinations.

A highlight from the trip was definitely being able to witness and be part of the Waisek Lantern Festival celebrations, where thousands of devotees gathered and released lanterns into the night sky – an incredible sight! We also got to visit a tea plantation  located 1,540m above sea level, which was a great respite from the usual heat. Check out our photos from the tip.
