Malaysia is a beautiful country located in Southeast Asia. Malaysia’s attraction comes from its natural beauty and its diversity in culture. The culture of Malaysia is influenced by various cultures of different groups of people in Malaysia including mainly Malays, Chinese and Indian. Different ethnicity in Malaysia have their own culture, with some crossover. One thing they share in common is the long tradition of arts and music.
In the northeast corner of peninsular Malaysia, bordering Thailand, is the state of Kelantan. Of all the 13 states in Malaysia, Kelantan is well known for its colorful Malay traditional culture. Few tourists head this far north up the east coast, but it’s a fascinating journey for those interested in seeing Malaysia as it might have been without so many foreign influences.
UNUSUAL EXPEDITION’s trips are well known for accomplishing a lot in just a few days. We basically pack a lot of content with different themes in a single trip. This workshop will be no different. Locations shoots each day are dependant on daily weather and lighting conditions.

The people here have managed to preserve their age-old customs and traditions. Thus, Kelantan is aptly dubbed the ‘Cradle of Malay Culture’. Kota Bharu, the bustling state capital emanates an old world charm and offers tourists the opportunity to witness a microcosm of the unique Kelantanese way of life. The sights, sounds and colours that are authentically Kelantan can be captured at the Central Market, an irresistible treat for shutterbugs. The colorful and lively atmosphere of the bazaar, dominated by women traders who sell a wide variety of vegetables, seafood, cakes, batik, handicrafts and preserved food is truly a sight to behold.
